How the Partnership Works

Massage Lab is a platform that connects independent massage therapists with clients across Berlin. We’re not an employer — we’re a service that provides you with bookings, client management, a professional online presence and payment processing. You remain fully self-employed, running your own practice on your own terms.

Think of it as having your own marketing department, booking system and brand — without the overhead. You focus on what you do best: delivering great massage.

1

Apply and Get Verified

Submit your application with your qualifications and experience. We verify your credentials, discuss the platform and answer any questions you have. There's no obligation — if it's not the right fit, no problem.

2

Set Up Your Profile

Choose which Berlin postcodes you want to cover, set your availability in the calendar, confirm which massage types you offer and set your own prices. You have full control over all of this, and you can change it anytime.

3

Receive Bookings

Clients book through the Massage Lab website. When a client in your area books a treatment you offer at a time you're available, the booking comes to you. You receive all the details — client name, address, treatment type, time — and deliver the session.

4

Get Paid

Clients pay through the platform. You receive your earnings minus the platform commission. Transparent, regular and predictable.

How the Partnership Works

Clients Without Marketing

Building a client base as an independent therapist takes time, money and marketing skills. Massage Lab does the marketing for you — SEO, advertising, brand building, website management — and delivers booked clients directly to your calendar. You don’t need to spend a cent on advertising.

Professional Booking Platform

Clients book and pay online through a professional system. You get a clean dashboard showing your upcoming appointments, client details and earnings. No back-and-forth messaging, no chasing payments, no manual invoicing.

Complete Flexibility

You decide when you work, where you work and how much you charge. Want to work three evenings a week? Fine. Want to cover Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg but not Steglitz? Your choice. Want to take two weeks off? Update your calendar and go. There are no minimum hours and no fixed schedules.

Work with Others Too

Partnering with Massage Lab doesn’t restrict you from working independently or with other platforms. You’re free to take your own private clients, work with other booking services, or combine Massage Lab bookings with any other work. There’s no exclusivity requirement.

A Brand That Works for You

Massage Lab has a professional website, strong Berlin SEO presence and growing brand recognition. When clients book through the platform, they trust the quality — and that trust extends to you. You benefit from the brand without having to build one yourself.

Transparent Commission

You set your own prices. Massage Lab charges a platform commission of 20% plus 19% MwSt on each booking. That’s it — no hidden fees, no setup costs, no monthly charges. You know exactly what you’ll earn from every session before you accept it.

Who We're Looking For

Massage Lab partners with qualified, experienced massage therapists who take pride in their work and want to build a successful independent practice in Berlin.

Qualified

You hold a recognised massage therapy qualification. Whether you trained in Germany, the UK, Australia or anywhere else — what matters is that you have formal training in the techniques you offer.

Experienced

You have practical experience treating real clients. You're confident working in people's homes and can adapt your approach to different environments and client needs.

Professional

You arrive on time, communicate clearly, maintain high hygiene standards and deliver consistent quality. Your clients should have a great experience every time — that's what builds your reputation and theirs.

Self-Employed in Germany

You're registered as self-employed (freiberuflich or gewerblich) in Germany, or willing to register. You manage your own taxes, insurance and business administration. Massage Lab provides a platform, not employment.

Equipped

You have your own professional portable massage table, linens and oils. You're responsible for your own equipment and supplies. If you're just starting out and need guidance on equipment, we're happy to advise.

How the Partnership Works

Every Massage Lab partner has access to a dedicated online portal where you manage your practice:

Your Schedule

Set your recurring availability (e.g. Monday–Friday 10:00–18:00), add special days with different hours, and block out holidays or days off. Clients can only book when you’ve marked yourself as available.

Your Service Areas

Choose exactly which Berlin postcodes you want to cover using an interactive map. You can add or remove areas anytime — expand into new districts when you’re ready, or focus on the neighbourhoods closest to you.

Your Services and Prices

Select which massage types you offer (relaxing, deep tissue, sports, aromatherapy) and set your own prices for each duration. Your prices are displayed to clients during booking — you’re in full control.

Your Statements

View your booking history, earnings and commission breakdown in a clear statement format. Download PDF statements for your records and tax filing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I employed by Massage Lab?

No. You are an independent, self-employed massage therapist. Massage Lab provides a platform that connects you with clients — similar to how a booking platform or marketplace works. You are not an employee of Massage Lab. You set your own hours, your own prices and your own working conditions.

Can I work with other companies or take private clients?

Yes, absolutely. There is no exclusivity. You can take your own private bookings, work with other platforms, or combine Massage Lab with any other work you do. Many of our partner therapists have their own clients alongside Massage Lab bookings.

How much can I earn?

You set your own prices, so your earnings depend on what you charge and how many bookings you accept. Massage Lab charges a platform commission of 20% plus 19% MwSt. For example, if you charge €100 for a 90-minute session, the commission is €23.80 and you receive €76.20.

Do I need to be registered as self-employed?

Yes. You need to be registered as self-employed (freiberuflich or gewerblich) in Germany, with your own tax number (Steuernummer). If you're new to self-employment in Germany and need guidance on the registration process, we're happy to point you in the right direction.

What equipment do I need?

A professional portable massage table, clean linens (sheets and towels), massage oils and a carry bag. You're responsible for your own equipment and supplies. We can recommend reliable suppliers if you're setting up for the first time.

What qualifications do I need?

A recognised massage therapy qualification from an accredited training provider. We accept qualifications from Germany and internationally. If you're unsure whether your qualification meets our requirements, include it in your application and we'll let you know.

How many hours do I need to work?

There are no minimum hours. You set your own schedule and can work as much or as little as you like. Your availability is entirely your decision.

What happens if I need to cancel a booking?

We understand that things happen. If you need to cancel, let us know as soon as possible so we can notify the client and try to find an alternative therapist. Consistent reliability is important for maintaining a good client experience — but we know life isn't always predictable.

Is there a contract?

Yes — a simple freelance platform agreement that sets out the terms of the partnership: commission structure, cancellation policy, quality expectations and data protection. It's a standard service agreement, not an employment contract. Either party can end the partnership with reasonable notice.
